IMPORTANT NOTICE:
As is clear from the dates in which these blog posts were published and the information published, posts in this blog were written for the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 academic years and the blog refers to courses which were active in the past, not the present ones.
At present this blog is no longer active and does not contain up-to-date information. Information may no longer be relevant in 2012-2013. For information on current courses, materials, exams, etc., please contact the faculty office directly.
-------------------------------------------------
A selection of past exam papers can be found on the Faculty website. You will need a password to access these - if you send me an e-mail (using your uniurb email and stating your name, surname and student number), I will send you the password.
During the year I will also be assigning extra work in class. It's important that you do this regularly in order to be best prepared for exams.
It is essential that you respect the deadlines that I give - I will not accept any late work.
You can either bring your written work to show me in class or send it via e-mail. I will only accept work sent using your uniurb e-mail address. You work must be sent in a Word/Open Office attachment, and not in the body of the e-mail - if not, it won't be corrected.
When doing written work for me throughout the year, remember the following important guidelines:
- leave double line spaces so that it's easier to read and so that I have space to write comments/corrections;
- if you're working on the computer, use at least a size 11 font;
- if you're writing your work by hand, use clear handwriting that I can read and leave lots of space (margins and double line spacing);
- use A4 paper only (with large lines - 'foglio protocollo' is fine, no squares and no narrow lined paper);
- do not use block capitals;
- remember the importance of paragraphs in your compositions;
- respect the deadlines that I set in class - as I said earlier, late work will not be accepted.
...if you don't respect the above guidelines then I'm afraid I won't be able to correct your work, and you'll have to write it out again - so don't forget.
Please remember that I cannot send a personal reply to each e-mail to say I received it, due to the high number of e-mails received. I will, however, send your work back to you when I've corrected it.
If I don't give you back your e-mailed work within 10-14 days of you sending it (during semester time), please let me know - as this probably means there was a problem with the e-mail. Corrections could take longer between semesters because of exams, etc.
If you give me your written work in person, please remember to ask me for it in class.
You're doing the written work to help yourselves, not just to make me happy - so it's important that you see the comments/corrections, focus on them and use them as a constructive tool for future improvements.
